Life: FINAAAAAAALS!

I'm fully entrenched now in finals week, my sanity drains, my schedule presses in on me like a vice-grip. I'll get through it of course, and there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Specifically, I'm heading off for 10-days in merrie olde yngland. Can't wait.

Oh, and I'm planning to blog about my trip, though I'm not sure yet how steady I'll be able to be.

Politics (and Life): Governor Schwarzenegger Suggests Eliminating the Cal Grant

So, our Governor Schwarzenegger has decided, in an effort to address the state's budget issues, to suggest the phasing out of the Cal Grant. If his plan goes through, only those students currently receiving funds will continue to get money, and any new or future students (including transfer students for the '09-'10 school year) will not get anything. For many, including myself, this could force an end to any college aspirations. The Joint Legislative Budget Committee will be meeting to discuss cuts to education this week and the elimination of the Cal Grant is on the agenda. Please, write the members of the committee and let them know that this cannot stand. Also, it would be beneficial to contact your specific Senate and Assembly state representatives and let them know how you feel. Life: I return

After a long hiatus, I have decided to finally come out of hiding and start updating this blog again. While I’m certainly still busy with school and work, things have let up quite a bit. I’m sure that being finished

with the Victorian novel in my literature class has quite a lot to do with that.

Life in general has been going very well. I've already received my acceptance letter from UCI and will find out from UCLA at the end of this month whether or not I got in. UCLA is still my first choice, but if situations force me to go to UCI I won't be complaining. Work at Primerica is going well, I've now got my life insurance license and am currently involved in a program to get me promoted to Team Captain by the middle of summer.

I realize this post was short, but I wanted to give a quick update. My first real post back from my blog sabbatical will be one detailing my spring break journey into northern California. Look for it soon.

Today I started my last semester at Orange Coast College, and I’ve already had my Contemporary Philosophy and U.S. History to 1876 classes. The jury is still out on the teachers, but I can tell that neither of them will be so horrible as to ruin the class, which is good.

As far as my writing goes, I finished the first section of my novel but I’ve hit a bit of a hitch in the story. There was a problem I wrestled with for some time and I thought I had found a solution. Unfortunately, said solution is full of holes. No doubt I will figure out a solution, but it’s very frustrating and has seriously bogged down my progress. I have a lot of empty time between classes on Monday and Wednesday in which to do writing, so I guess I’ll find out.

School and writing aside, there’s nothing much of interest to report. Church continues to go well, and at work I continue to get negligible hours. There’s an interviews on the horizon, however, that might change things. I’ll keep you posted.

Oh, and I’m surprisingly pleased with Jonas Quinn on Stargate SG-1. It’s true that he’s no Daniel, but I still enjoy his character.
